For beta, our in-app editor will work for .docx files ONLY. We plan to expand this to PDF very soon.
Think of our in-app editor as the toolbar above a word document. It has all the features you’d expect from changing fonts, sizes, bolding, adding bulleted list, etc. It’s just all in ContractSafe.
Turning it on
To turn on this feature, go to settings > AI & Workflow Options
Look for Editing and toggle on for In-app editing.
Default is this feature is only available for admin level users. If you want it to apply to standard users as well, you can check that box.
Once the feature is turned on, you’ll see a new option on the contract page for Edit
Editing a contract
To edit a contract, select Edit and where you want to edit (either in a new window or on the existing page.)
Note: Depending on the size of the contract, it may take time to convert the contract from PDF to an editable format.
When it’s done converting, you’ll see a new banner with edit options
Make your edits and, when finished, be sure to save at the bottom.
Version history and controls
Every time a contract is saved after editing, a new version is automatically created with the previous one being placed in related documents as an attachment.
When to use/when not to use
Our in-app editor was designed for simple and quick edits like fixing a typo or adjusting a date. For larger edits or full contract redlining, we suggest our Word integration (coming soon!)
Common questions
How is this different from your Word integration (coming soon)?
You can use both! It’s recommended to use Word for larger edits and drafting and the in-app editor for spelling errors or quick updates.
Are edits made in-app synced with the Word version?
Yes. If you make edits in-app, and someone later opens that contract in Word, the edits you made in-app will appear. The only issue could be if someone has already checked-out the contract to edit in Word, then someone would not be able to use the in-app editor at the same time.
Can I compare versions if I use the in-app editor?
Yes. You can compare saved versions. However, in-app editing will not show real-time tracked changes like in Word.
Will I be able to use in-app editing if it's a PDF?
During beta, our editor will only work for .docx files. Once we expand to PDFs, it’ll take a short delay to load as the contract has to be converted from a PDF to a .docx file.
Will users still have access to edit the contract after it has been signed or approved?
No. As long as the contract is in an executed status, users will not be able to edit the contract.
Are all Word fonts supported?
Because some fonts are proprietary to Word, not all are supported. In the case of your contract having a font we don't support, we'll do our best to choose a font that most closely aligns with the current one.
