Notification preference defaults — what changed
If you don't set a personal notification preference, ContractSafe now defaults you to no personal preference — which means you inherit your group's notification settings if you belong to a group with any configured, or receive no email notifications if you don't. Previously, an admin with no notification preferences set received an email for every contract uploaded to any folder they had access to. That wasn't the intended behavior.
"No personal preference" vs. explicitly set to "None": These aren't the same. "No personal preference" means ContractSafe looks at your group's notification settings (if you belong to one with any configured) and uses those instead. Explicitly setting your own preference to "None" overrides that — you won't be notified no matter what your group is set to. If you're in a group and still seeing emails you didn't expect, check your group's notification settings before assuming your own setting is wrong.
Who this affects: Admins invited to ContractSafe on or after June 29 through September 22, 2026. If you haven't set your notification preferences since then, you may currently be receiving an email for every contract upload — whether or not that's what you actually want.
What to do: Go to Settings > Users and review your preferences. Turn on what you want to hear about, mark “no personal preference” if you wish to just inherit from your groups, or mark “none” if you don’t want to receive any email alerts on contract uploads. If you've invited other admins since June 29, let them know to check theirs too.
Why we can't just fix this for you: An admin who wanted all notifications and an admin who just never touched the setting end up in the exact same state. We can't tell those two apart, so reviewing your own settings is the only way to make sure they're actually set the way you want.
